On October 22, 2024, the Department of Accounting and Taxation at IIS (Deemed to be University) hosted a guest lecture designed to equip students with essential skills for electronically filing Income Tax Returns (ITR). The event took place in Aditya Hall and featured CA Shruti Sharma, Vice President of Investments at Matterhorn India Pvt. Ltd., as the distinguished speaker.
Dr. Mani Bhatia, Additional Head (Department of Accounting and Taxation) opened the session by welcoming CA Shruti Sharma and expressing gratitude for her expertise, presenting her with a token of appreciation. The lecture commenced with an introduction to the fundamentals of e-filing ITR, where the speaker emphasized the importance of understanding the entire process before submitting returns. She covered crucial topics such as PAN registration, the Annual Information Statement (AIS), Tax Deducted at Source (TDS), and the Taxpayer Information Summary (TIS).
To enhance engagement, an interactive quiz was held after the session, allowing students to test their knowledge on tax-related topics. Objective of the Workshop/seminar/activity: To equip students with the essential skills and preparation strategies needed to transition successfully from Campus to Corporate.

Summary/ Description:
The session commenced with a warm welcome by Dr. Mahima Rai, followed by a comprehensive talk delivered by Mr. Syed Ismail Zabiulla. Mr. Ismail provided valuable insights into the preparation required for students entering the corporate world.
The first focus was on creating an effective resume. Mr. Ismail explained the key components of a well-structured resume and broke down each section, emphasizing the information that should be included. He also presented sample resumes, highlighting common errors students often make while drafting them.
Mr. Ismail then shared essential tips for interview preparation, addressing the various stages of the process and how to approach each one confidently. He also stressed the importance of maintaining a strong LinkedIn profile, offering advice on how students can use the platform effectively to enhance their professional visibility.
Outcome of the workshop/seminar/activity: The students gained critical knowledge and practical tips necessary for their preparation for placements, including resume writing, interview readiness, and building a professional online presence. This session provided them with the confidence and tools to navigate the transition from academic life to the corporate world.

Objective of the activity: The orientation aimed to educate students about the ACCA qualification, its structure and the professional advantages it offers on a global scale

Summary/ Description-The Department of Accounting and Taxation, in collaboration with the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and the International Skill Development Corporation (ISDC) held an informative ACCA orientation session on 19 September 2024. The event was designed to introduce students to the ACCA qualification and the global career opportunities it offers.
The session highlighted how the ACCA qualification equips students with the knowledge and skills needed to succeed in various fields such as auditing, taxation and financial management with a particular emphasis on international career mobility.
The Speakers included Mr. Prabhanshu Mittal, Head of Education Partner Relationships at ACCA, Mr. Vikas Khosla, Zonal Head at ISDC Global and Mr. Siddhant Chandel, Regional Head – Business Relationship (North, East & Central India), ISDC.
To begin with, Dr Shweta Gupta, head, Department of Accounting & Taxation, welcomed the speakers and presented a memento as a token of gratitude. Then Mr. Siddhant Chandel opened the session and elaborated on the structure of the ACCA qualification, breaking down the three core levels—Knowledge, Skills, and Professional. He highlighted the flexibility of the ACCA curriculum, allowing students to pursue it alongside their academic studies or professional commitments. He also discussed ACCA’s global partnerships with major corporations, audit firms, and financial institutions, reinforcing the qualification's value in the international job market.
Next, Mr. Vikas Khosla spoke about ISDC’s collaboration with ACCA, emphasizing the importance of skill development and how ISDC supports students through their ACCA journey with customized training, study resources and industry exposure.
Finally, Mr. Prabhanshu Mittal gave an overview of ACCA’s global reach and recognition. As the Head of Education Partner Relationships at ACCA, he focused on the growing demand for qualified accountants worldwide and how ACCA plays a crucial role in filling this gap. He explained that the ACCA qualification not only provides technical expertise but also enhances critical thinking, ethics and professional judgment, making ACCA professionals highly sought after in the job market.
The session concluded with an engaging Q&A segment where students had the opportunity to ask questions related to the ACCA qualification, career prospects and the resources available to them through ACCA and ISDC.

Outcome of the Activity-The orientation provided a thorough understanding of how the ACCA qualification can open doors to a broad range of career opportunities across various industries and geographies. It also reassured students of the comprehensive support available from ISDC in helping them achieve their professional goals.

Summary/Description:
Ritu Murjani is alumna of the first batch of the ACCA program of the University. She is an experienced audit professional with over six years of expertise in the core audit of real estate companies based in the Americas. She began her career in 2018 with EY GDS in Gurgaon and currently works at PwC Luxembourg. Ritu holds extensive knowledge of audit and accounting standards, specializing in US GAAP, LUX GAAP, and IFRS.

In this interactive session, Ritu shared her professional journey and the lessons she learned while working with multinational corporations (MNCs) across various sectors. Ritu highlighted her experience, including her career-defining decision to work in Luxembourg, a major global financial hub, and discussed how this choice significantly impacted her career path. She emphasized the importance of continuous skill development, adaptability, and staying relevant in an evolving job market. Her practical advice on aligning skills with market needs and preparing for future industry shifts resonated with students, inspiring them to pursue excellence in their careers.

The session concluded with an engaging Q&A, during which Ritu offered additional insights into making career decisions and building essential skills, making the talk an informative and motivational experience for all attendees.

The IIS (Deemed to be University, Jaipur, takes pride in announcing the results of its students of B.Com (Hons) Proficiency in Chartered Accounting Course. Gunika Khanna of Batch 2022-25 have cleared CA Inter I Group and entered into CA Final. Suhani Gurjar of Batch 2020-23 has cleared her CA Inter II Group and entered into CA Final. Harshita Agarwal of Sem 3 has cleared her Group II exam of CA Inter held in September 2024. The University congratulates and wishes them for their future success.
