Tips to Excel in ACCA Exams

 

On 26th September,2020, an online interactive session was organized for the Sem 3 students of B.Com (H) AAF on the topic “Tips to Excel in ACCA Exams.” Speaker on the occasion were Ms Poorna Singhal and Ms Nimisha Agarwal. Ms Poorna is a current pass out of Batch 2017-20 of the ACCA programme of our University and is presently working with EY as Advanced Audit Associate. She became an ACCA Affiliate even before completing her Graduation. Ms Nimisha, is a current student of Sem 5 of B.Com (H) AAF and is a global rank holder in March 2020 ACCA exams.

The first tipdiscussed was regarding the study material to use, and according to Poorna all of the publishers (BPP Learning Media, Kaplan Publishing) have the same type of information and one should focus one particular publisher before moving towards other ones.

The second tip was with reference to the computer-based examinations. As per Poorna,basic skills of Excel are required for it along with a fairly good typing speed.Also, proper utilization of training given by the ISDC mentors and not to hesitate in asking queries from the mentors, or problems faced in the subjects was advised.

One of the most important things which was told by Poorna was to “find your 60% in the exam”. She wanted to highlight the importance of having an achievable goal.

Nimisha highlighted that Examiner’s Report, Mock exams, and Technical Articles, these are some of the many help provided for an ACCA student, and we should utilize them in a manner which may be beneficial to us.

It was emphasized by both the speakers that practicing will help in understanding the concepts better, which will lead to queries and developing and a clearer concept of the topic. The last thing discussed was the “Test Reach Platform”provided by ACCA, designed to mirror the live exam experience and perform as a mock test platform for students.

In the end, queries of Sem 3 students were answered to their satisfaction by their Seniors. Overall, the session proved to be beneficial for all the 14 attendees.
