Objective of the Visit:To bridge the gap between classroom learning and practical working environment by demonstrating the process of production of dairy products.

Summary

A Study Tour was organized by the Discipline of Accounting and taxation, IIS (deemed to be University)celebrating Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, toeducate the students about the production process and various steps taken to deliver a product in the market.

Dev Milk Foods (DMF) is Rajasthan´s leading milk and dairy brand with footprints across length and breadth of the state. DMF’s world-class Ice Cream & Bakery brand ´FruBon´is a blend of finest and best quality food material. Spread across 60,000 square feet, FruBon's manufacturing unit is one of the most advanced Dairy, Ice Cream & Bakery setups in Northern India.

The tour began with a speech addressed to the students by the Quality Assurance Manager at DMF. Firstly, heintroduced the students to FRUBON and gave insights about its establishment and the quality standards set for their products.He also talked about the sourcing of their raw materials directly from the farmers and cooperatives not involving any middlemen which helps in the welfare of the community.

The plant is divided into two parts i.e. Dairy Plant & Ice Cream manufacturing plant. Students were divided into two groups and taken to both plants simultaneously.  

At first the students were taken to the quality assurance lab where the milk was checked for various quality parameters. Followed by that, students where shown the kneading machine and the Rotary Oven, used in the bakery section.

Further, a detailed presentation of the pasteurizationprocess, creaming process, packaging process, incubation process, coagulation process of paneer and cold storage process was shown.

After that the students were taken to the ice-cream factory in which the base tank was shown and students were taken to the cold storage room which was at -22 degree Celsiusto have an actual feel. During all this process basic hygiene was maintained by workers.

At the end, refreshments and snacks were served to the students and questions were taken up which were satisfactorily answered by the manager.
